Liver and Lymphatic Support Tincture
LIVER - LYMPH: Cirrhosis of the liver, fatty liver, jaundice, liver cancer, high cholesterol, lymphoma, lymphatic congestion, lymphadenitis, swollen lymph, time to flush the filters? Is it just a coincidence that the word LIVER contains the word LIVE? Or...Did those whom devised the English language know the absolute importance of the function of the liver centuries ago and that it can truly determine whether or not we live and in what state of health we do so.
The liver has to work very hard as it has many important functions it must maintain in order for our survival. With so many duties to perform it is just amazing that it can also withstand the torture we put it through on a daily basis, pushing it to the limit over and over again and then we wonder why or how we become sick. Something to think about.
Below are the duties it was originally intended to perform:
1. Filters out toxins in the blood and lymph.
2. It is a chemical plant that converts everything we eat, breathe and absorb through our skin into life sustaining substances.
3. Manufactures bile to digest fats.
4. Prevents constipation by promoting peristalsis (rhythmic contractions of the digestive muscles to promote movement of fecal matter).
5. A storehouse for vitamins, minerals and enzymes, dispensing them as needed by the system.
6. Creates glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which acts with insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. GTF is then converted into glycogen and stored in the liver for energy reserves.
7. Regulates thyroid function, converting T4 hormone into its active T3 form.
8. Breaks down hormones like estrogen, adrenaline, insulin and aldosterone (a hormone that regulates the salt or electrolyte and water balance in the system).
9. Discards old worn out red blood cells while manufacturing new blood elements.
10. Manufactures healthy cholesterol needed for almost all bodily tissues.
The thousands of enzyme systems that control virtually every body activity are created by the liver. If your liver fails to create even one of these enzymes, overall body function is impaired, creating greater metabolic stress on your body.
So you see...the liver is of the utmost importance and we MUST keep it functioning properly, keep it cleansed and do our very best not to overload it with chemicals, preservatives, animal fats, harmful prescription and street drugs (in my opinion they can do the same types of damage, including oral contraceptives and caffeine), gallstones, home repair materials, art supplies, garden chemicals, agricultural pesticides and building materials, smoke from fires, exhaust fumes from vehicles, motorcycles and boats, tobacco, alcohol, sugars and refined foods, cosmetic ingredients, common household products, stress, parasites, candida albicans (fungus) and viral activity can all deplete our liver cells.
When liver health is depleted it can lead to illnesses and symptoms such as a sluggish thyroid, diabetes, female hormonal imbalances, chronic lack of energy, circulatory problems and heart failure, lymphomas and all other cancers, skin disorders, liver spots, generalized itching, food and chemical sensitivities, constipation, digestive disorders, cirrhosis, hepatitis, jaundice, enlarged liver, distended abdomen, depression, mood swings, irrational displays of anger, vertigo, nausea, fever, migraines, headaches, and dry tongue and mouth, bruising, anxiety, confusion, impaired libido (sex drive) and mental function, food allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities, PMS, conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. When your liver is damaged it cannot remove the toxic waste from your system, which then build up in your blood and eventually your brain, which in turn will lead us into a state of chronic illness.
WHEW!!! All of that due to a dirty uncared-for liver.
Once again...the liver is our main filter. It needs to be maintained. If you didn’t change or clean your car filter for 20-80 years it would be sitting in a junkyard. Correct? If we neglect our filter then we too will seize up and cease to run. We pay big dollars for our vehicles; it gets us back and forth to work, vacations, errands, etc...Therefore we respect it and keep it clean and running smoothly so we don’t have to hoof it or ride the bus everywhere. Right? Some people even spend extra money zooping it up a bit. My point is, we do whatever we need to do financially and time-wise to keep our car running in tip-top shape because we depend on it daily but if you want to continue to enjoy nice luxuries like your car then you MUST start doing some maintenance on yourself and your own filter or end up resting you know where before your time! Which is really an magnificent place I am sure, but why not wait for your real time to go.
Now on to the Lymphatic System.
The first thing to understand about your lymph system is its vast extent. Like the circulatory system that supplies blood, the network of lymph vessels serves almost every cell in your entire body. These are 'blood vessel' like tubes, which connect the lymph glands in our body. Our lymph nodes serve as a series of cleaning filters they are strung along the lymph vessels like pearls knotted on a string, they are basically like little storage warehouses in the body but can become like over spilling landfills when congested. The lymphatic fluid, (the 'tissue fluid' in which all of our cells are bathed) percolates through the nodes when stimulated with deep breathing, muscular contractions, exercise, dry brushing, massage (particularly around the abdomen, axillary nodes, breast, abdomen and groin areas), or herbal stimulation. This system has no internal pump, thus moves only if you move it, through this process it is being purified and immunologically boosted at every stage. If the movement of the lymph was halted completely, you would die in a matter of hours. I’ve always thought that perhaps God decided that we should have to work a little for our gift of health, therefore left the lymph pump out of that system so that we would have to get off out derrières and get moving.
The lymph vessels and nodes are made of lymph tissue, one crucial function of lymph tissue is generating and storing white blood cells, the blood cells that fight infection, ie, your immune system. Besides the lymph nodes, principal lymph organs include the bone marrow (where white blood cells called B-lymphocytes are made), the spleen, tonsils and the thymus gland (where T-lymphocytes are made).
The largest concentration of lymph tissue in the body surrounds the intestines. Called gut-associated lymphatic tissue, or GALT, this tissue actively separates much needed nutrients from unwanted and unhealthy pathogens, and aids in defense whenever needed.
Waste collects in the lymph nodes and moves to the kidneys, skin, lungs and colon so it can be expelled, if it is allowed to become a toxic landfill, our chances for disease becomes greater and at this point infections can take over and cancers can metastasize.
The lymphatic system is very often forgotten in conventional medicine unless disease such as cancer has been diagnosed, yet the lymphatic system is actually a crucial player in your body’s ability to ward off disease and heal from injury and should be maintained and cleansed just as all other systems in the body as preventative healthcare. In fact, it is the lymphatic system that supports every other system in the body, including the immune, digestive, detoxification and nervous systems. And, for us woman who don’t like cellulite, paying attention to your lymph health can greatly decrease the effects of jelly thighs, buttocks and abdomen.
I recommend quarterly or bi-annual liver and lymph flushes, cleanses and support depending on the amount of stress and congestion you have accumulated over time and your current state of health and age.
